It was never meant to feel like a cage.
Most people understand the value of crate training. They know it can help with sleep, behaviour, and creating a sense of routine. But when it comes time to bring one into their home, something doesn’t quite feel right. Traditional crates often feel cold, intrusive, and out of place — more like a temporary solution than something designed to live within modern interiors.
Because of that, they’re often tucked away, used inconsistently, or avoided altogether.
And yet, for a dog, the experience is entirely different. What looks like a crate to us has the potential to become something much more meaningful to them; a comforting sanctuary where they can rest, switch off, and feel secure.
A different way to think about crates.
The Paws Room was created from a simple shift in perspective. Instead of asking how to make a crate more acceptable, we asked how it could become something both dog and owner genuinely value?
We didn’t change the function of a crate. We changed its form, and how it fits within shared spaces. By bringing together the psychology of a den, the comfort of a resting space, and the design of considered furniture, the crate becomes something that belongs naturally within modern interiors.
It’s no longer something you need to hide, it’s something you choose to keep.
Where our story began...
This idea was shaped by our own experience. Like many dog owners, we saw the benefits of crate training firsthand with our Shar Pei, Paolo, who struggled with anxiety and overstimulation.
With the guidance of behaviourists, we came to understand that a crate wasn’t a cage, but a comforting sanctuary, a place where he could switch off, reset, and feel safe.
While the behavioural benefits were clear, the physical product never felt aligned with our home. It solved one problem, but created another.
When both our dogs took to crates and benefited instantly, we created The Paws Room to share our learning and hope our stylish dog crate furniture alternatives help to break down the stigma of the "cage".
Designed for dogs, considered for your home.
Every detail of The Paws Room is designed with intention. The structure reflects what dogs instinctively seek in a den-like environment, while the materials and form are carefully considered to complement modern interiors.
The goal was never to create something that stands out, but something that fits in, a piece that feels just as natural in your home as it does for your dog to use.
As a family-owned business, our collection draws inspiration from modern dog lifestyle and minimalist design. Considering both form and function, each piece is thoughtfully crafted from premium materials and made to last. Customer's love the way our crates fit in with the style of their home, connecting their dog's happy space with their place.
